A Cherry Hutch in the Kentucky style
This client wanted a hutch of this style for their kitchen area. The
major issue that they faced was that due to where it would be placed,
the maximum depth of the lower unit could only be 16". There were
no commercial versions that met this depth requirement.

Appalachian Cherry was chosen for the wood. The
boards were then selected for best grain pattern matching.

We have access to some spectacular quarter sawn cherry boards.
These were used for the ship lapped back of the upper unit and
for the bodies of the drawers.
|

The boards for the ship lapped back are laid out in the best
sequence for grain matching
|

The drawer fronts were made from one board so that the grain
would be continual across the front of all of the drawers.

Here you can see the beauty of the quarter sawn cherry used
in the dovetailed drawers.

Custom crown was made to
accent the piece.

The upper unit has hidden lighting for the shelves. Restoration
glass glass was chosen for the top unit
