A flamed maple and walnut, hall or sofa table

Oftentimes we come across special pieces of wood that we set aside for those designs where the wood itself determines what the design should look like. This was the case for this table. The maple top came from a tree whose wood was spalted, curly and flamed. A very rare occurrence so we bought the entire tree. Part of it was used for the conference table shown here. The piece we ended up using for this table had been set aside for a couple of years.

We also came across some beautiful walnut that came from trees blown down in 1954 by hurricane hazel. A farmer had stored the rough sawn boards in his barn and we were able to purchase them.

This table came from the flow of the grain structure of these woods.

The top "floats" about 1/2" above the base to add to the lightness it's appearance.

Price - $975
