The Beauty of wood
Some people love paintings, others great cars. We, on the other hand,
are addicted to the beauty of wood.
Here are some examples of woods that we have either collected ourselves
and/or have identified at one of our suppliers. For pieces like
these, we take care to only use pure shellac and oil finishes that
truly bring out and compliment the wood's beauty. We almost never
apply stain to pieces like these.
Unique woods like these make truly one of a kind hall tables, sofa
tables, end tables, jewelry boxes, cigar humidors, corner tables, coffee
tables or just about anything where you want the displayed surface
to be a work of nature's art.
If you can envision a piece made from any of these woods, please
feel free to contact us.
You can click on any image to see a larger version
Please note .. In several of the pictures you will
see areas of the wood that are dramatically different in color.
These are areas that we simple moistened with mineral spirits so that
you can have an idea how the beauty
of the wood will come out with finishing.
Dimensions are available on request
A Once in a lifetime board.
This board is so unique that we've dedicated and entire page to it here

Cocobolo
|

Cocobolo
When freshly planed the wood takes on this
reddish hue. Then, gradually after exposure to air it returns to the
deep rich brown/red tones it is known for |

This is a piece that has been dampened with mineral
spirits to simulate oiling. Actual finish will end up a shade
or two lighter.
Curly Eucalyptus
We grabbed most of this since we thought
it would make some spectacular boxes.
You can see examples of this wood used in
a Jewelry Box and a Cigar Humidor |

Curly Makore
We also grabbed some of this for boxes |

Curly Movingue (Satinwood)
It's hard to capture the iridescence of this
wood on camera. This would make a stunning table top. |

Chamfuta
One single board that would make an beautiful
dining table, conference table or even an altar.
Over 8' long, 44" wide and 3" thick. |

Camplor
What a tree this must have come from !
This slab is 3" thick and approximately 44" in diameter.
It was still in the rough state so we were not able to
wet it to see the grain but I'd imagine it will be amazing.

More great table / bar potentials |

Another truly "one of a kind" board. Our
supplier has had this board in his personal stash for many years. He
said he "might" be willing to part with it but only to someone
like ourselves who would come up with a design that truly complimented
the board.
This is piece "very old growth" CURLY heart pine. In
all my years of working wood I've never seen a pine board with
curl in it. Add to that the fact that this is old growth
wood ( heck the single board weighs close to 60 lbs !! ) and
you truly have a one of a kind board.

Another piece from the owners personal stash
that he is willing to make available to us.
While crotch walnut if fairly common, this
piece is also curly and thus making it quite rare
What a great table top or even a truly unique
bathroom vanity. |
